GDP is a static rebuild, not a live database. A Python script reads World Bank and IMF JSON from data/raw/, computes a handful of summary statistics, and writes HTML, JSON and a sitemap.
Ingest
- GDP in current US dollars is World Bank indicator NY.GDP.MKTP.CD.
- GDP at PPP in current international dollars is NY.GDP.MKTP.PP.CD.
- GDP per capita in current US dollars is NY.GDP.PCAP.CD.
- GDP per capita at PPP is NY.GDP.PCAP.PP.CD.
- Real GDP growth is NY.GDP.MKTP.KD.ZG (annual %).
- Population is SP.POP.TOTL.
- Taiwan is filled from IMF WEO (NGDPD, PPPGDP, NGDPDPC, PPPPC, NGDP_RPCH) because World Bank Open Data does not publish Taiwan. IMF dollar levels are converted from billions where the DataMapper series is in billions.
- World Bank aggregate regions are dropped, except the euro area (EMU), which is kept for the /ea/ desk.
- Rankings use the latest year available for that economy. Economies do not all share the same last year.
What we do not do
We do not change a published value, fill a gap with an interpolation, or splice World Bank and IMF series for the same economy. IMF is used only when the Bank has no series.
Charts and tables
Charts are annual. The all-countries chart starts with the twelve largest latest readings; the legend and the table let you add or remove economies. Range buttons filter the view only. Country desks chart that country plus a related-country set.

Pages load Google AdSense (publisher id ca-pub-6557770900386479, listed in ads.txt). There are no reserved layout boxes on the page; ads may still appear through the network script.
