What GDP is

Gross domestic product in current US dollars is the market value of final goods and services produced in an economy in a year, converted at market exchange rates. Latest: USD 30.77T in 2025.

A larger dollar GDP can reflect a stronger currency as well as more output. PPP series on this site are the better comparison of living-standard volume. From 1960 to 2025 (66 years): latest USD 30.77T (2025), previous year USD 29.30T (2024); low USD 541.99B (1960), high USD 30.77T (2025).

Reading this series

Current-US-dollar GDP measures economic size at market exchange rates. Currency movements can change its value even without a change in output. Total GDP is not a measure of individual living standards; PPP provides a comparison using comparable price levels.

Country desks use the same observations as the all-countries pages. Displayed observations use each economy’s latest published year, which can differ between economies. Missing observations are not zero and are not interpolated or carried forward. Source revisions appear after a rebuild.

The Country selector changes desks. Chart and Table show the same selected series; range and zoom controls change the view without recalculating observations. Source names and licences identify the producers. The figures are historical information, not forecasts or recommendations.

Taiwan uses DGBAS dataset 44218 for 1980–2025: GDP in current US dollars, GDP per person in current US dollars, and annual real GDP growth in percent. These are the source's published annual values. The dollar series use market-exchange-rate values; they are not purchasing-power-parity measures. Taiwan and Liechtenstein are unavailable in the PPP GDP and PPP-per-capita series until a suitable source with verified commercial-reuse permission is available. Missing observations are not zero. DGBAS dataset 44218 does not supply a PPP replacement. Taiwan's population, GNI, GDP deflator, current account and exports are unavailable on this site. A missing series means this publication has no usable observation from an approved source; it does not mean that no official statistics exist.
